How to Build a Bonnet

Duration: 2 days

Would you like to make yourself or a friend a new Bonnet?  Although it's fiddly work, bonnet construction is relatively straightforward to do.  Over 2 days, we will create a simple covered and trimmed Victorian Bonnet suitable for mid-1800s interpretations.  Day 1 will include instruction on cutting, wiring, padding and constructing your bonnet.   Day 2 will be instruction on covering and trimming.  Students must be comfortable with hand sewing.

A material fee will be payable to the instructor at the beginning of each session.

Fascinating Fascinators

Duration: 4-8 hrs

Students will build a short version of a Fascinator hat. This type of hat is small and worn or "perched" on one's head.   It would be suitable for wearing to special occasions, i.e., weddings or parties

I will provide the build structure  and the notions to hold the fascinator on the head.

Students are responsible for bringing a basic sewing kit,  fashion fabric to cover your hat, lining, complimentary threads and choice of embellishments:  ribbon, veiling, flowers, and findings.

Fascinator Design will vary - depending on client requirements

A small material fee will be payable to the instructor at the beginning of each session.

Fancy Footed Ladies

Duration: 4-8 hrs

Would you like to fancy up the toes of your reactor shoes or fancy up your entire shoe? Ala Marie Antionette

Using period-appropriate ribbons and findings, we will either entirely cover your reenactor shoes or construct a set of Glittery Shoe Bows.  When complete, your shoes will look like they just stepped out of a remake of a Marie Antionette movie.

A small material fee will be payable to the instructor at the beginning of each session.
